STRONTIANITE

Braunsdorf, Freiberg District, Saxony, Germany, Europe

Status

Sold

Size

9 x 7 x 4.5 cm (Small Cabinet)

Collection

ex. Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia

Description

Slender, elongate prismatic, and transparent crystals of the mineral Strontianite.  This Carbonate of Strontium is rarer than the Sulphate of Strontium, Celestite. The crystals are slender (to 10mm x 2mm) and exhibit a bright adamantine lustre - crystallisation occurs all around the specimen and the clusters grow as acicular aggregates of crystals. Great sparkle and superb condition considering its old-time provenance.
