SPESSARTINE GARNET overgrown by FLUORAPATITE

Gilgit District, Northern Areas, Pakistan, Asia

Status

Available

Size

3.5 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm (Miniature)

Description

A highly unusual specimen of striated translucent red coloured Spessartine Garnet crystals stacked columnar-like and then overgrown by an elongate hexagonal colourless and transparent Apatite crystal. The Apatite is sharply terminated with open areas where Garnet can be seen beneath. Some of the Garnet crystals show quite elongate crystallisation and elongate striations which is rare for the species. Bizarre and very cool.
