Round Mountain Mine is a large open pit mine producing about 0.19 grams of gold per ton of rock. With the price of Gold at the present (August 2011) height of $1700 per oz the mine more than pays its way. The Gold is closely associated with volcanoclastic hydrothermal mineralisation which occurred approximately 500,000 years ago. Gold from the mine area has been produced since 1905.
