ex. Keith Hammond Collection

Description

A fine intergrown fan-like group of classic Epistilbite from the Deccan Traps, India. The Epistilbite crystals are bladed in habit with sharply defined terminations. The crystals are largely white translucent, colourless and gemmy at the crystal terminations. The group measures 2cm by 2cm by 1.3cm with no discernible damage. The Epistilbite cluster is nicely displayed at the centre of the arching form specimen. A druse of sparkling slightly tinted pink Quartz crystals forms the backdrop for the Epistilbite crystals. The Quartz in turn mostly covers a minutely botryoidal crust of snow white Chalcedony. The three minerals have formed within a vug in a dark basalt matrix. A pleasing specimen of Epistilbite from the Zeolite rich lava beds of India.
