Grass Valley at the 35th annual Old West Show….an amazing building at the fair grounds filled with just about any old west antique you can imagine – firearms, Wells Fargo, houses of ill repute, coins, Indian baskets and on and on……a cast of characters that are worth the price of admission – have always loved the town of Grass Valley – the trees and flowers all in bloom – and so happy to see the historic Holbrooke Hotel reopened and it is stunning. Of course, my buddy Peter tagged along for a drink at the bar. The hills were filled with the ‘super bloom’. We don’t make much money here but it so much fun and the camaraderie among the dealers is strong – in fact, the show organizer invited all of us (and that means over 50 dealers) to his house for a fabulous dinner cooked by his wife and friends. Wayne came home with an antique cigar dispenser that garnered more attention than our golds! I could write pages about our favorite towns at the northern mines.
