Sakoany deposit, Madagascar produces these clusters of sky blue Celestine (also known as Celestite). Along the beach, deep holes are dug out by hand, in search for these heavy geodes. When the water table is low, specimens are extracted, hauled up these sand tunnels and brought to market. For a delicate mineral like Celestine to remain intact is a feat in itself, not undermined by the odds of opening a geode and finding a 5.8 cm crystal sticking up, free from contacts and damage. Heavy and large, this specimen will add color and style to any display case.
